TELESCOPIO / TELESCOPE: TS65

CÁMARA / CAMERA: Canon EOS 1000D

ACCESORIOS / ACCESSORIES:

AUTOGUIADO / AUTOGUIDE: QHY5+EZ60+PhdGuiding + Backyard EOS (Dithering)

EXP: 13×600″ +38×300″+10×60″(Darks, flats y offsets)

MALE: 4/5

SEEING: 5/5 (12ºC, atmósfera en calma / wind calm)

FECHA Y LUGAR / PLACE AND DATE: 15 y 16 de septiembre de 2012, Montejo de Tiermes, Soria

PROCESADO / PROCESSING: DSS, PixInsight LE, Photoshop

The Andromeda Galaxy (M31) is a giant spiral galaxy located 2.5 million light years away. This is a very bright object and is easy to capture but has great difficulty processing precisely because of its high brightness. It is easy to saturate the core, so we have to work with masks in bright areas before modify curves and levels. It’s typically seen photographs of M31 with a characteristic blue color on the outer edges and more magenta in the nucleus. In my opinion, the most impressive detail of this object interiors are dark areas of the spirals, molecular gas clouds that keep us from seeing what is behind, probably stellar birthing areas.
